WSOP hero takes down Premier League III in style...
JC Tran bested a field of 13 top professionals
to emerge victorious in the third PartyPoker
Premier League. Adorning PKR clothing for the
event, Tran battled his way through an amazing
series of heats to reach the final table with
the chip lead and take down the top prize of $300,000.
Now
in its third year, Tran claimed the Premier League
title on his debut at the coveted tournament,
defeating Tony G in a heated clash after over
an hour of intense Heads Up action. His record
of 1-1-2-2-1-4 from six earlier heats gave him
a deserved chip lead as he moved onto a final
table filled to the brim with superstar talent,
including the likes of Juha Helppi, Tom Dwan,
Roland De Wolfe and reigning WSOP
Champion Peter Eastgate.
JC
Tran is the first professional poker player to
represent PKR.com and the superb win comes just
three days after Tran took to the virtual felt
with fellow APT ambassadors Nam Le, Chino Rheem
and Quinn Do in a special Pro Bounty Tournament
held on the next-gen site. The event attracted
1,130 runners – the largest ever field for
a PKR.com bounty tournament – all vying
for the chance to play against the ‘Poker
Pack’ and for a shot at a $5k APT Manila
package.
Satellites
to the APT Manila are rolling right now on PKR.com
with the chance to qualify for as little as $2.56.
'Poker
Pack' draw the crowds at PKR
28 November 2008
PKR has never seen a night like it as 1,130 entrants
took their chance to play against the ‘Poker
Pack’ in an exclusive APT Pro Bounty tournament.
With hundreds more railing and following a live
Q&A on the PKR.com forums, the tournament
proved the most popular cash buy-in tournament
ever to run on PKR.
Of the four pros, David “Chino” Rheem
lasted longest, finishing in a highly creditable
486th place after wreaking havoc at the tables,
leaving many players in his wake JC Tran exited
in 524th while Quinn DO took 564th place. Nam
Le was crippled early when his two-pair ran into
a set. He couldn’t recover and departed
first of the bounties, in 839th place. In addition
to the unbeatable poker story, each player who
knocked out one of the superstars of poker also
bagged a free shot at a $5k package to renew rivalries
against the ‘Poker Pack’ in the APT
Manila event.
With
his solid performance, Rheem claimed bragging
rights over his three friends, not to mention
a $500 last-longer to spice things up. After his
early bath, Nam leapt onto a 41 Heads Up Phase
Sit & Go, to the astonishment of one (un)lucky
player. Despite millions in earnings, a packed
and supportive rail and years of experience at
the top, Nam failed to overcome the PKR player’s
resilience and accepted defeat after several minutes!
The
Pro Bounty tournament was eventually won by Redshape
who scooped $4,972 and a shot at the APT Manila
seat. Each player was accurately represented in
the game via the FaceGen™ application (see
attached screenshots).
Simon
Prodger, Marketing Director, PKR said: “We’ve
never seen a response to a tournament like it,
and it shows just how much respect PKR players
have for these four players. It’s been an
honour to host them on the PKR.com site and we
look forward to sending a strong PKR team to team
up with them again at the APT Manila.”
Satellites
to the APT Manila are running 24/7 at PKR.com.
Players may qualify for as little as $2.56.

PKR
announce best bounty ever!
25 November 2008
PKR
are offering its 2.25 million players the chance
of a lifetime this Thursday night as poker legends
JC Tran, Nam Le, David ‘Chino’ Rheem
and Quinn Do take to the virtual felt in a special
$10k guaranteed Asian Poker Tour Pro Bounty.
The $22 buy-in event will take place at 20:00
GMT on Thursday 27th November. As well as offering
all players a chance to scoop a share of the $10k
prize pool, players who eliminate Nam, Chino or
Quinn will find themselves with a free shot at
winning a $5k package to play in the APT Manila
(worth $270).
JC
Tran is the #1 ranked player in the ESPN-Bluff
power rankings with over $6.8m in career tournament
winnings.
He
is one of a select few to have scooped both a
World Series bracelet and a World Poker Tour title.
Over the past five years, JC has recorded a staggering
23 WSOP cashes (including seven final tables)
and 11 WPT cashes (with five final tables).
David
‘Chino’ Rheem was one of the November
Nine who made the historic 2008 Main Event final
table. A fearless high stakes poker pro and one
of the most compelling characters in the game,
Chino won $1.7m for his seventh place finish together
with several million more fans.
Nam
Le is one of the hottest tournament players on
the circuit, reaching final tables in some of
the biggest events around. An LA Poker Classic
fourth (behind Ivey and friend Quinn Do), a Macau
High Roller victory and recent WPT Festa al Lago
second have netted Nam more than $1.8 million
this year alone.
WSOP
bracelet winner Quinn Do reached his first WPT
final table earlier this year, exiting honourably
in second place for $909K behind Phil Ivey in
the LA Poker Classic. A third in the recent Macau
High Rollers event won by friend Nam Le increased
the profile of this silent but deadly destroyer.
Not
only will players be able to rail the stars and
ask questions, PKR will also be opening a special
forum Q&A during the event to provide another
opportunity for players to ask questions of their
heroes.
